When the dressing is removed run warm water over the area until clean.

Dry thoroughly with paper towels or kitchen roll. Bath towels should Not be used as they shed fibres and can cause infection, as can toilet paper.

Remember your tattoo is an open wound and needs to be creamed, do not let it form a scab, as this will damage the tattoo and could cause the tattoo to get infected.  You must clean your tattoo before every new application of cream.

Do Not soak your tattoo in the bath as this will soften the tattooed area and cause damage to your tattoo. try to have short showers and pat dry as above.

Apply a very thin layer of Savlon or Bepanthen 4/5 times a day, then after 2/3 days use palmer’s coco butter. It’s a very good moisturiser and helps the tattoo hold its colour.

For the next 2/3 nights it is recommended that you cream and cling film the tattooed area before going to bed. This is to prevent bed fibres getting into your tattoo and to help the overall healing process.

Do Not put plasters or dressings over your new tattoo unless instructed to by your tattooist (e.g.: if you work in a dirty environment).

If you are uncertain about any aspect of the healing process, please feel free to ask a member of staff, give us a ring or send us an email.
